Tips to Get You Drinking More….Water!

Are you tired of everyone telling you you have to drink more water? I hear you, I actually cringe every time I have to tell one of my clients to drink more, I should actually just record myself and send it along with every follow-up appointment… “now don’t forget to keep drinking your water!!” (insert a waving finger)

 

We all know how much water we should be drinking and why, and if you aren’t sure check out my blog to find out. But knowing is only half the battle and after you and I are done talking, you will go about your day doing what YOU WANT…

Is there a way to help you WANT water? Maybe not, most people need it to survive… but hey, who am I to tell you what you do. I even have some clients that go so far as to tell me they HATE water. So be it, but you don’t have to take my word for it, you can research it for yourself 😉

I am talking to you over there, yes you…the one who knows they need to drink more water, and WANTS to but really gets stuck between the intention and the action. For you I will suggest:

 

  1. Write out some implementation intentions. Decide what time of day you will drink. ” When _________( at the beginning of every hour), I will_________ (Drink a small glass of water)”
  2. Stick reminders everywhere, better yet, set an alarm.
  3. Leave bottles of water around your house, at work, in the car ( just make sure they are stainless steel.)
  4. Infuse your water with fruit, strawberries, blueberries, cucumber, lemon and orange. You can even try adding mint, rosemary and other fun spices.
  5. Get a soda stream and make it bubbly if that’s your jam.
  6. Drink more herbal tea
  7. Blend 1/4 cup of fruit and a teaspoon of honey into 1.5 liters of water.
  8. Make popsicles out of herbal tea or infused water as an afternoon treat.

Whatever or however you choose to move forward in your water journey, make sure you can make it stick. Boring= results, repeat, repeat and repeat… eventually you will be picking up that water bottle without thinking twice.
