What do we know about food intolerances?

  • For one, they are NOT  food allergies, while allergies trigger an immune response, food intolerances come from our body’s inability to digest certain proteins, sugars etc.
  • Food intolerances have a delayed reaction and can be difficult to link at first.
  • Food intolerances are NOT life threatening, although over time having sensitivities to certain food can lead to malabsorption.
  • Those who suffer from food intolerances are lacking essential digestive enzymes and this can be caused by many factors including:
    • Our environmental exposure to chemicals and toxins.
    • The amount of ultra-processed of food we eat- Additives, preservatives and dyes, high amounts of sugar and bad fats are destroying our gut health.
    • We are compromising our microbiome by eating more processed than whole food.
    • We are living such demanding and fast paced high-strung lives, swapping quality for quantity.
    • We aren’t sleeping enough.
    • We are drinking too much alcohol
    • Stressing too much.
    • Not getting enough exercise.

What we can we about it?

  1. Slow down
  2. Listen to your body
  3. Identify the root cause of any symptoms of discomfort by meeting with a professional
  4. Take a food intolerance test/ Try the elimination diet
  5. Restore your gut health
  6. Eliminate exposure to as many harmful substances as possible
  7. Take digestive enzymes
  8. Eat whole food

Never underestimate the power we have to make a positive difference. Take responsibility for your health and end the cycle of looking outwards to find the problem. This is not to say that some of you may need medical guidance, but if you depend solely on the power of a pill to heal you while taking none of the responsibility, you are only masking the problem. Take responsibility, take action, make the change.
